Hey y'all...happy Saturday to you. :)
I am in need of some help with my FReeper page, specifically, how to place something on it.
I'd like to know...how do I place a running timer or countdown on my FReeper page?
How do I get the Amber alert banner to display real-time information as their website says we can do?
Are we able to post a visitor counter on our FReeper pages?
These are some of the things I've attempted to do in the past, but haven't been able to figure out.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you for your help :)
not sure about the counter, but i think there's
something on the amber alert page giving you
the html code to add their banner to your page.
The banner is supposed to turn yellow during active alerts, but it never does.
i've looked at it before but never added to a webpage.
maybe try emailing them to see if the webmaster of that
site can give you some ideas?
xjones,
You've assumed wrong that I've never bothered to google. Also, I'm not wishing to create my own countdowns, I just want to post them on my FReeper page and have them work. I follow the instructions on webpages, cut and paste the codes, but then they won't work.
A brief look shows the CodeAmber.org ticker uses Javascript.
I believe that if a code accesses a JAVA applet, or uses Javascript, it will not work on your FR homepage (or in a post made to FR).
You're limited to plain, vanilla HTML only.
Ohhhhh. Well shoot. So all counters would be out, then?
I think there are some web page "hit" counters (I assume that's what you mean) which are plain HTML (IIRC They count each time a small image is called from the server).
Here's a couple of places you may want to look:
Free Sticky (Free content for webmasters)
Follow the instructions. When you get to "FINISHED.....", blue out the Main HTML code. Next, press "Ctrl C". Return to your FReeper page, and press "Ctrl V". It should appear. : )
Thank you. I'm bummed about the java apps. I found a really cool one on the increasing cost of illegal immigration, but...oh well.
Thanks again. :)
