That's really not at issue, however consider Karr's age at that time and the fact that both the girl involved and her parents had to have consented to the marriage. Once married there was no illicit act on the part or Karr, his young wife or her parents.
My grandparents were married when my grandfather was 24 and my grandmother was 14. No crime was committed and my grandfather was far from a child molester- he was a minister in the Moravian church. They remained married until the death of my grandmother at the age of 76.
I spent some time in Morristown, New Providence and East Orange New Jersey. I know of many young ladies in New Jersey who are married in their early to mid teens. I don't really agree with that situation, but it doesn't make it illegal or even immoral, just ill-advised.......
It's plausible, but it doesn't really convince me. I know some folks that do this kind of thing, but they're supplementing their income with it. The money to do this kind of traveling would seem to indicate something else. I'm almost scared to ask what the something else was.
I knew a couple of 16 year olds married in New Providence because they got pregnant - but none younger. 12 or 13 y.o. is really pushing it, even in the south.
Mrs VS
He was married to more than one underage girl. IIRC, one was 12. That's enough for me.
If Karr had actually used "SBTC" in the yearbook, it might be significant. However, he actually wrote, "Though, deep in the future, maybe I shall be the conqueror and live in multiple peace..." All this really proves is that Karr once wrote a sentence in which four consecutive words happened to begin with "s," "b," "t" and "c." Big deal. I'll bet that there are thousands of posts on this site in which users have written four consecutive words that happened to begin with "s," "b," "t" and "c." I strongly believe that Clinton lies, for example.
That was a proven hoax and it wasn't recent. "Just trust me."
He didn't start his world tour until after he skipped out on his bail. He never supported the kids, Lara did it all.
Sounds like this guy travelled the world to feed his pedophilla.
9/1/1989 - said to be stillborn - but since they were delivered at home, there's no witness except Lara Knutson and Karr.
Lara said that John refused to let her go to the hospital.
Sometimes people who
talk about sex are all talk.
It is possible
this guy's whole sex life
was inside his head and folks
who talked with the guy
could tell he was nuts
and just stayed away from him.
(And he seems to have
access to money.
He had a DeLorean!
If the guy is rich,
"normal" folks might be
afraid to "dish out justice"
whatever he said.)

Apparently she was correct about Karr.
All this really proves is that Karr once wrote a sentence in which four consecutive words happened to begin with "s," "b," "t" and "c."
Ha..of the states allowing marriage of young girls 14 years old and under, the MAJORITY are northern states, not southern. Maybe your statement should be revised to say "...even in the north."
I agree; there's no other logical explanation for his sudden "confession" and subsequent "retraction". I guess we'll just have to wait for Greta or Geraldo to solve this for us!
Not true...there are two additional "witnesses". The infants themselves. Whether or not they were stillborn is easily determined by examination of the infants. Alabama is not some backwoods third world nation. They have modern police procedures and thoroughly competent ME's and medical personnel.
They were stillborn. John refused to allow Lara to go to the hospital. There were complications and she couldn't deliver them in time.
