Goodell now comes to the forefront (NFL Commish-Jane Skinner's hubby)

For years, Goodell stood in the background, less noticeable than a pylon. Behind the scenes, as a man who rose from an intern to the league's Chief Operating Officer, Goodell helped key almost every major move, whether it was expansion, stadium construction or the creation of a new collective bargaining agreement.

But now one of the league's most invisible men will be its most visible, with his face as out front as Tagliablue's has been the past 17 years.

Fans will get to know Goodell the way they know their favorite players. And this is some of what they will learn: Goodell's father, Charles, was the New York Republican Congressman that was appointed to fill the seat that was vacated when Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Goodell's wife, Jane Skinner, serves as a daytime news anchor on the FOX News Channel, providing news updates at the top and bottom of the hour.

Her latest report can be about the man she wed. Roger Goodell, the man who made his mark listening to others and killing with competence, is now the most renown member of his family.

He is the new commissioner of the NFL.

You are bitter, and senselessly so.

"Goodell's father, the late Charles Goodell, was a Republican congressman from western New York who in 1968 was appointed by Gov. Nelson A. Rockefeller to fill the Senate seat left vacant by the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy."

They gotta have the soap opera ....they're part of the SSM (sports mainstream media), and TO will usually comply. Has he been mouthy this weekend?

About the most outrageous thing T. O. did was about a week ago wearing a bicycle helmet and a US cycling team jersey when he was relegated to the exercise bike. He's been pretty quiet, and Parcells has just said he has to get in a full week of practice to play. Parcells gets irritated at the press because he's got fifty players on the field, and they all want to talk about T. O. There's a media circus, but it doesn't have anything to do with what Parcells or Owens has said or done. It's all the same silly speculating they were doing on the screen tonight.

Parcells blew up at a couple of reporters earlier this week. They were asking about Romo, and Parcells said he thought last week got him further down the road. One of them asked "to being a quarterback?" Parcells blew up, and said, "Hell, yes to being a quarterback! What position do you think he's trying out for?"

My goodness, such selective reading on your part. Continue on. He turned against the war in Vietnam and against President Nixon. Or do you find that to be a senseless, inconvenient truth that need not be acknowledged?
Like Joe Friday, I'm not bitter. Just the facts ma'am.

You are just jealous! You do not like the fact that Jane Skinner and her husband have made something of themselves! Just because you have alot of money and you are famouse does not mean you are out of touch with “main stream America” (whatever that means). Also are you suggesting that pepole with money should not have kids? With your breeding comment? If so that is outrageous! I say good for Jane Skinner and her husband, Charles Goodell, and also to their fathers who both made something of themselves too. You are just mad at the fact that you can’t be as succesful as they are! Jane Skinner is very beautiful, smart and nice.

Why did you wait nine months to reply to a post? Is it just a slow news day in your part of the world?
