If you had bought one, one would assume that you had a screw loose. The Delorean is a POS. Not worth 16K, not worth 8K, not worth 3K.
Unless it has a flux capacitor...
By the late 80's, they were not especially desireable. I recall several being for sale in my area, for a lengthy period of time, for less than $8,000.00. The engines were a problem, and I believe the aluminum skin was a huge repair issue.
