you know what I wonder?.....I wonder if something happened to Burke that night.......the cops weren't allowed to talk to him alone and during the 911 call, you could hear the parents supposedly telling him something like "haven't you done enough" ...IIRC....
I really doubt this Kerr guy did it. He's a freak for sure, but I don't think he is the one ... .
Burke has always been a problem in my thinking too. Possibly he had something to do with letting the perp into the house. I'm almost convinced that he did.
