The best pitcher the Mets have now is Steve Trachsel.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Alot of teams would love to have a guy like Trachsel in their rotation. Besides, I think you're forgetting about Pedro Martinez, Tom Glavine (although he might be out for the remainder of the season), and El Duque who is lights out in the postseason.

I wish I had seen this thread over the weekend. Oh well...Mets have an off-day today, so it gives me a chance to catch my breath after that disastrous Phillies series followed by the slightly-more-encouraging Rockies series.

Glavine's potential season-ending injury is definitely more serious than Pedro being on the DL. Glavine is, IMHO, a better pitcher strategy-wise that Pedro. I have a feeling, however, that the three key starting-rotation pitchers who will help to guide the Mets to the World Series this year are Trachsel, El Duque and Glavine (if he is okay). If Pelfry is feeling okay, he'll also give the Mets some assistance. Also, Alay Soler is still on the 40-man roster. He wasn't phenomenal in his previous outings, but he at least may prove reliable as a middle-reliever if needed, especially with Sanchez out.

I rather have a 1986 Bobby Ojeda than a 2006 Steve Trachsel. Trachsel will give up at least 3 runs a game. In the post-season, that's too much.

Pray for Pedro and Glavine's health.
