"I'm not going to pretend that I know how I would behave if I'd just found my beautiful 6 year old daughter brutally murdered in the basement of my own home the day after Christmas. It's the sort of thing that could make anyone behave very irrationally. But the sum total of Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey's odd behavior, continuing for quite some time after the discovery, is such that no one should be criticized for suspecting them of involvement in the crime."
I'm not sure why people want to automatically assume the worst possible explanation concerning the Ramseys desire to go to Georgia.
Georgia was their home. I'm sure they had close friends and family there. It is where they wanted to bury their daughter. They clearly felt Georgia was "home."
And...where do people want to go when they've been traumatized? They want to go "home."
Who do they want to spend time with while they are suffering? Friends and family.
You make an excellent point.
I cannot even imagine wanting to stay in that house. I don't know that I would ever go back there again.
