I don't know, but I think they must have something besides his confession to get DHS and the Feds involved. They wouldn't extradite on a whim. The US warrant at this point is still sealed and the DA won't release any details. Amazing--they tracked this guy all over Asia and followed him for 21 days in Bangkok, arrested him there as well-- with NO leaks!
From the early reports it was stated that he knew things that have never been released by the BDP or investigators. Of course, early reports also said that they had a DNA match, so who knows. They are also looking at his possible involvement in another case in California.

I agree with you, 100%. There is NOWAY this DA, after 10 years of the Boulder PD and DA's office taking it on the chin, would spend the time and resources to get the FBI and ICE involved to pick up a guy 1/2 way across the world without some damned good solid evidence.
When you also consider California has open arrest warrants against him and Colorado was able to get their arrest done first, that tells me something.
