When Jonbenet was killed, this joker became obsessed with her and wanted to write a book about her. That's why he knows as much as he does about the case. As a "writer", he got in contact with the police and everyone else he could and begged them for details.

He's a PERVERT; however, I really doubt that he had anything whatsoever to do with the murder.

I think he did it and is cunning enough to twist the facts to look like a "false confession" in order to be acquited, get back to the US and seek his next victim.
