Looks like a case of mental illness. Mental cases claiming to have committed famous crimes when caught for a different crime has quite a history.

We had a case here in Washington, D.C. area almost 2 decades ago; a little girl named Michelle Dorr disappeared. Her father ultimately confessed to murdering her and burying her in his basement. Police dug up his basement twice looking for her body, but it wasn't there.
Years later, the real killer oonfessed and led police to her body, which he had buried under a mattress in a wooded area.
I know this is a completely different scenario, as in fact a victim's close family members or friends sometimes become convinced that they are the perps, for whatever reason. But its mental illness, and this seems like a case of that. I, too, really want this to be their man. But I have a bad feeling that this guy is fantasizing the sex and relationship with JBR. Why are we trusting "the local authorities" now, when we've seen them bumble around for 10 years?
