Definite backtrack. Sounds like someone who has mental problems and is looking for his 15 minutes of fame to me.

If they don't link the DNA to him, the DA is going to have a hard time convicting him.

The single most interesting thing I heard in her talk was when she mentioned the word "anniversaries" when asked about tips, etc. Wonder if that could mean he was spotted at the Ramsey's or graveside, etc. on the anniversaries of the child's death?

The problem with thinking it is a backtrack is they've been looking for this guy for several months, if not years. I have to believe they have more than a confession.
