Hugs are VERY important and so is telling those whom you love, even friends, that you love them, daily. So I'm very glad that you've learned that lesson. :-)

Please give your wife a hug from me. I know that this will hit her pretty hard and it shouldn't. There is even less that she could have done about this.

No matter how "strong" a person is, there's always something that's going to "get to them". But, I know that when I'm in my husband's arms, I'm safe......no matter what. :-)
