Statement of John Ramsey on Today's Arrest in Connection With the Murder of His Daughter, JonBenet Ramsey Wednesday August 16, 5:20 pm ET

ATLANTA, Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is statement of John Ramsey on today's arrest in connection with the murder of his daughter, JonBenet Ramsey:

"I want to have only very limited comment on today's arrest because I feel it is extremely important to not only let the justice system operate to its conclusion in an orderly manner, but also to avoid feeding the type of media speculation that my wife and I were subjected to for so many years," said John Ramsey. "I do want to say, however, that the investigation of the individual arrested today in connection with JonBenet's death was discussed with Patsy and me by the Boulder District Attorney's office prior to Patsy's death in June. So Patsy was aware that authorities were close to making an arrest in the case and had she lived to see this day, would no doubt have been as pleased as I am with today's development almost 10 years after our daughter's murder. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude for the efforts of Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy and the members of her investigative team."

"The Ramseys and I have been totally amazed and impressed with the professionalism of law enforcement under the direction of Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy. This was obviously an incredibly complex task but one that has been carried out in almost textbook fashion with the investigation of this individual going on for several months, without any leaks in the case," said L. Lin Wood, attorney for the Ramsey family and a partner at Powell Goldstein in Atlanta. "I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the many people who have stood by the Ramseys, believing in them and their innocence throughout these long and difficult years."

John Ramsey will not be providing any interviews at this time. Requests for future interviews should be directed to Lin Wood, attorney for the Ramsey Family.

That is not a really good analysis of the note.

Just as an example, I seem to recall the multiple "she dies" was used in the movie "The Way of the Gun". The movie came out after the murder but I would say it was used then because it is common movie tough guy language since talkies.

The person who wrote the note knowing Jon was already dead does not point the finger at any individual other then the murderer who is persons unknown.

As far as the "and hence" statements made by Patsy Ramsey after the note appeared, see the "she dies" comment. People do that all the time, even screen writers.

Much of the criticism of them was that they raised their daughter in a very creepy way, sexualizing her and objectifying her at a very young age.

Those criticisms still stand.

Clearly any innuendo beyond that, and into the sphere of them being involved in the murder of their child, was way out of line.

It was a $118,000 bonus. How did the killer know about that, to write it in the ransom note?

Easy. Check stub or entry in his checkbook, sitting around the house.

I recall that handwriting experts said they could not rule her out, but that's different then saying she wrote it.

Regarding the ransom note, it is plain that the writer is modern and has gone through some 3rd level education. They also seem to follow leftist politics with a word like faction and the notion of a group like the SLA. They plainly know some details about the Ramsey family. They are also somewhat pedantic e.g. 'etc.,' - a period and a comma used. Also they seem a little undereducated at times e.g. 'out smart' being two words.

This is from a swift read tonight.

I noted a resemblance between Karr and Lee Harvey Oswald. Perhaps it was the similarity in being carted round by the police in public. He also sounded rather camp.

Thank you, I personally had the opinion Patsy Ramsey did not write the ransom note. I have seen one signature of John Karr from a civil court document....my opinion is inconclusive. If anyone on this forum has a sample of John Mark Karr from the same time period, scan and send it over>
