I never did follow this case closely enough to have an informed opinion. But it seems as though the Ramseys were never cleared. Of course that is going to lead to speculation.
It may not have been very nice because the odd thing does occur where the parents are blameless. Unfortunately, it sounds like the investigation was so botched that no conclusion could be made. After all this time, I'm not sure people can be convinced to change their minds.
They kept a second home in Atlanta because they still had family and friends there. The police even went and investigated shortly after JonBenet's death.
