Serious question: if you lived in a rural/suburban area with a deer problem ( as many as 10 eating your expensive landscaping) what medicine would you suggest that could swat thenm without injury, and keep me out of poacher's jail?

The wrist rocket has a poor hit ratio.

Sounds like you need more practice with the slingshot...

Shooter 2.5's suggestion is seconded, tho' that could get you in trouble if you're in a municipality that considers a paintball gun to be a firearm and doesn't allow discharging firearms within city jurisdiction. Neighbors might start to complain when the lovely deer they feed start showing up with multicolored spots... Or just buy tan paintballs.

I'm outside the city but have neighbors close enough that during deer season I hesitate to even use a shotgun. Which is why I have my crossbow. But one of those Quackenbush guns would give me a bit more range.

Outside of season, I chase 'em off w/ my Beeman R7 - very accurate, very quiet .177 air rifle. At 30 yards with a wadcutter pellet it won't break the skin if you hit 'em in the rump, but sure does chase them off for a while.

This site has a lot of good info on it and on many other air guns:
