Save a life, adopt a rescue.
I second that. Rescue groups don't get the press that shelters do, most of the dogs are cared for in foster homes if possible, and they are evaluated by people who are very familiar with the breed (whatever breed the rescue is for). And I have seen some of the neatest dogs come from rescue.

I've made that commitment to get my animals from rescue groups and/or no kill shelters. Feel so sorry for these poor innocent animals, just as I would for human loss of life.
