I don't think it's playing with words.
Here's my understanding of the issue:
Islam is the name of the religion. Muslim is the name of a believer of Islam.
Just as you wouldn't call a Christian person a Christianity, or a Buddhist a Buddhism, you shouldn't call a Muslim an Islam.
Am I missing something here, or is that all the CAIR guy was trying to get across?

His words are confusing and his points could be made clear with some visuals...cartoons perhaps. :)
Did he complain about the 9/11 Commission Report calling them Islamists? :)

He was trying to say that we don't designate religions as being Fascist...we call Countries Fascist...But what O'Reilly didn't get a chance to say is that since there is no "state flag" these militants are fighting under, and since Jihad is the fight in the name of Allah...that's what is meant by it. It's all words.
Today, a young Arab-American girl in Michigan was interviewed (her brother was one of the guys released today for having all those cell phones). She said WE have to remember they are Americans. And I was thinking that once, just once, I would like to here one of them say, "WE UNDERSTAND WHY YOU ARE SO SENSITIVE and WE UNDERSTAND YOU'RE CONCERN with our religion in your Country, HOWEVER.....
How come not one spokesperson has ever said anything like that?

His point seemed to be that just because a Muslim does something bad, that isn't an indictment of the entire religion.
That seems to be a logical position. Until you understand that it is the very nature of their religion that makes them do those bad things in the first place. And they have taught us that themselves.

Sure he was. Look at it from a logical point of view. Fascists that practice Christianity(No such thing by the way), would be called Christian-Fascists, Fascists that practice Islam are Islamic-Fascists(plenty of those around). Get the picture?

The main point the CAIR guy was trying to make was that any facist from a Christian nation is not labeled a Christian Facist. To me, most Facists have disavowed Christianity and so are not acting in the name of God. BOR was attempting to make the point these people are acting in the name of Islam or Allah, thus Islamic Facists.
Anyway, good try with the explanation but I am not buying it. Christianity is the name of the religion. Christian is the name of one who practices the religion. So, if Islam is the name of the religion and Muslim is one who pratices Islam, than we should just call them Muslim Facists. The key term here is Facist.
