You'd be amazed at how stray color creeps into uniform or "white" areas in photographs that you only notice when you zoom in. In fact my experience is that the truly fake looking photos are when there isn't some variation in shades around the edges of flat objects.

Is it possible that on a glossy paper that some reflection of his hand could be captured by the camera?
