"Duke students, any students, know how to act like model citizens," Gunter said.

Right. Like collecting the most money for Katrina victims.
Like having a sports team with 100 percent graduation rates,
plus academic honors (try matching that record with the football or basketball teams). Like doing community coaching and service on the weekends. Like being complimented by all of the service personnel for their considerate treatment (agains, tryin matching that judgment with the football and basketball teams).

"If they don't there are consequences."

Right. And if they don't, they can still be accused of rape; and nobody on the faculty or administration of Duke
will lift a little finger to help them.

Just be sure to remind the incoming students about that, will you?

Well actually the football team has a very high graduation rate as well. Not 100% but then you're dealing with a far greater number of players than lacrosse.

American Football Coaches Association Honors Duke For Graduation Rates

As for basketball, Duke was the last holdout for players leaving early. Up until the Elton Brand recruiting class, Duke had graduated every single one of the basketball players in its history except for that flake Kenny Denard who could have graduated but needed some small number of hours to finish but liked having it as his claim to fame. Then, finally, Duke succumbed and started routinely losing players early like everyone else.

This does not in any way invalidate your point but only goes to show that Duke is serious about graduating athletes across the board.
