My dad did his boot there back in the late 50s.
He served on the USS Essex for most of his stint.
20 years in the Navy. 1 year at Great Lakes, 19 in Norfolk. Served on the Nimitz, JFK, and Ike.
Now I just fix communications equipment for the ships.
