On why the kids aren't telling parents or another adult -- because an authority figure (pervert teacher) has told them not to. The kids think it their fault, something they did to invite or deserve this abuse.
I know it sounds crazy, but as a formerly abused child that is how I thought and felt.

No, it doesn't sound crazy at all. But it makes me realize we must do more to give kids the confidence to tell. I am a teacher, and I am surprised how easy it apparently is for someone to do this stuff. It makes me ill.
