Cute story, however it has one flaw. A 44 mag is not a good choice for bear hunting in AK. In fact there is a true story about 2 guys from MN who were camping in AK and ran into a hunting guide. They told him that they had a 44 mag for bear protection. The guide advised them to file off the front sight so it won't hurt so much when the bear sticks it up their ....

You know, I thought about that: Should the story have the Pope taking the two hunters aside,and saying: "In the future,you should consider using a .450 Marlin with hard cast 425 gr slug over 43.8 grains of IMR 7645,with magnum primers,and full-length re-sized cases..." ?

Then I said,Nah. That would probably spoil the joke.
