Welcome to Free Republic. Just an FYI, vanity posts should not be tagged 'news'.
Your entire rant is just that......a rant.
Guess you figure Israel's response to terror attacks is disproportionate too.
IBTZ????? Perhaps but in case not, Gibson marginalized himeslf the same way Peace-Skank Sheehan did with her anti-Semitic spiel. (although Sheehan's case is much worse)
You don't?
Actually, I wish Israel had gone in with more firepower and more bombs.
very nice piece.....thank you.
Well thank God for this because if this site is lacking one thing, it's a lack of personal thoughts on Mel Gibson.
I understand. But that doesn't answer my question. Do you believe that Israel's response to terror attacks is disproportionate?
You clearly have put a great deal of thought into this post. I'm almost surprised you didn't mention the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion as one of the many reasons Mel Gibson should be excused for his bigoted attack on one Jewish cop and all Jewish people.
I've seen long time FReepers get flamed for being anti-Semitic for statements like this.
Be careful.
Do you believe attacks against Israel are/have been historically disproportionate?
Zotted before I could reply.
I don't put much weight in the stuff people say when drunk and then placed under stress (stopped by the cops for a DUI).
In my younger days I did some pretty stupid stuff after having too much to drink.
I worry about what people say when they are sober. That is when I think they mean it.
Well, I liked your piece, too. I certainly don't excuse Gibson's rant, but I hadn't considered the possibility that he didn't always embrace the views he seems to hold now. Your point about the character assassination he was treated to by some members of the Jewish community in connection with TPOTC was right on. He was publicly and repeatedly smeared; stands to reason that he would still be harboring negative feelings. Some poor cop just happened to get the brunt of his anger.
If I were ever treated the way Gibson was a couple of years ago, I'd like to think I wouldn't behave like a jerk now, but there's no guarantee. Throw alcohol into the mix and someone who is already wound too tightly becomes unpredictable.
Thanks for posting and welcome to FreeRepublic!
What does that have to do with my question?
If, say, one thinks that Israel's response is exaggerated, couldn't it be for the fact that there've been aeons of events leading to it? Or, gee, is that just me?
Anybody that starts seeing jews hiding behind the wainscotting after four beers was always a a paranoid jew hater.
Agreed.
Getting ahead of yourself, aren't you? The poster still hasn't answered my question, and you're already making excuses for the anticipated answer.
And if Israel's response is indeed disproportionate, why would the poster mock the author for saying so?
