I can only link to the USA today article. The pics show Mel in party mode with the local hotties.

OH COME ON!

You come on... I don't hang out with racists. I assume you're sober, and willing to say anything to defend Mel Gibson. Maybe you'd do the same drunk, just louder.

I'm sure someone else has made that point about this too, but I hadn't read it before. Actually that makes perfect sense... I can picture it in my head. People constantly asking you if you're antisemitic, driving you crazy. You get drunk and the questions run through your head and you blurt out something you don't mean... Very interesting idea. Maybe I'm reaching because I just wanna believe he's a good guy at the heart of it all...

It's possible ... or perhaps his Dad and him were talking recently and the topic came up ... whatever the reason, I don't believe Mel is antisemitic. It's just one of those stupid things ... .

"When even he takes responsibility for the views he expressed, denial from you seems even more absurd."

His sober VIEWS are not in question. He is not antisemitic. It is WHAT he said when he was DRUNK that is embarrassing.

Frankly, "HairOfTheDog" your opinion of me, is irrelevant. I simply don't like seeing people like you, trashing good people like Mel, for the sport of it.

The guy is a closet alcoholic. When anyone is drunk ... all kinds of stuff out of character can happen or be said. I chalk this up to that. It was very stupid of Mel to have a night out like that.

Gibson has been an irritant to Hollywood for many years now. He would have been fine if he kept making the typical Hollywood fare like Lethal Weapon. But, Gibson started producing and directing movies that openly portrayed Christianity as a good thing. We were soldiers was a double whammy with Christianity and heroic American soldiers in Vietnam. The Patriot portrayed free black men fighting alongside revolutionary militiamen and even a minister.

Personally I think his real problem is alcohol.

Yeah, those are good, but
the Reader's Digest story
is amazing news:

----------------------------------------------------------------

"Mel Gibson is in a lot of trouble now, but his problems began a long time ago.

"Two years ago, [!] Gibson gave an interview to former Republican speechwriter Peggy Noonan [!!] for Reader's Digest. Now the outtakes of that interview have been made available to this column.

"His unpublished remarks, according to the Digest’s publisher, are shocking. Gibson actually ridiculed the historically acknowledged number of Jews killed by Hitler. ..."

I agree. As angry as those reporters/hollywood types probably make him, it's probably the alcohol that pushes him to let out his frustration. Not to mention that he's also admitted he has an alcohol problem. I've always thought he was a great guy as well as a great actor. Until he makes comments like that while sober, I will continue to think well of him and just know that he has an alcohol problem he needs to get help with.

His sober VIEWS are not in question.

You mean the ones that have so far been made public.

I'm not going out of my way to trash Mel, Mel's gone and got himself in the news here all of his own accord. I haven't even posted too much on these threads, but lately you can't get around the forum without tripping over a Mel thread and seeing some of the silly talk on them.

You are in love with an image you have of Mel, nothing more. I hope he doesn't shatter it.

Another thing that bothers me is the fact that no one is calling Hollywood on their overt anti Christian bigotry.

Very much agreed. It's ridiculous that they should be able to get away with it.

This doesn't have a thing to do with Hollywood, or anyone 'outing' him. Mel outed himself with his behavior.

Ah - such an optimist

I hear he has a temper
He'll beat you every night!
But only when he's sober!
So it's alright!

If alcohol was really a truth serum we'd just slip those dudes in gitmo a couple of pops and they'd spill everything.
