2J--OB and I have had a TracFone for about 3-4 years now and it works great. You add $20 worth of minutes every 2-3 months, and as long as you stay "up" you keep your same phone number and your minutes continue to accumulate. They run specials occassionally and you can get a phone for as little as $20, nothing fancy, but it sends and receives calls. OB has SSD too, and the phone works well for him. LSA

I just buy a year's worth of TracFone minutes at one time. It's something like $96 a year which works out at less than $8 a month....and I don't have to remember to update every 3 months!
