Freepers, I value your opinion.
I need a cell phone. Not one to use every day, one that I only use in case of emergency, like if I get lost or my car breaks down. I am considering one of those kinds in a package at Walmart with a pay as you go deal. I know they're more expensive per minute, but I will hardly ever use it.
The other day I got lost on the way to a friend's house. I had no AC in my car and it was 101 degrees outside. I had to stop and get out and find a phone to call her and I had just driven right by her house. A cell phone in that situation would have been perfect.
I am deaf in one ear and I find it uncomfortable to talk on the phone *anyway* so chatting on this phone would not happen.
So, any tips or suggestions on what to look for in this kind of cell phone? Anything I should steer clear of?
Glad to be of what feeble assistance I can! :)
My Benny was the sweetest thing...she loved me. She was happiest just sitting on my lap. Even when she was all tore up by that dog she wanted on my lap. My husband had to put her down and I just cried.
I have a couple of pictures of her on my profile.
Hey! Virgin has a way to earn free minutes by watching ads and such...I can do that! They want me to watch a Mountain Dew commercial...I give MD to my jedis in the morning to wake them up sometime. Wonder if they'll ask that!
How cute! Very nice homepage.

Sounds great! Free minutes are your friend.
I just buy a year's worth of TracFone minutes at one time. It's something like $96 a year which works out at less than $8 a month....and I don't have to remember to update every 3 months!
Card? I don't need no steenkin' card! Well...not any physical card. I buy minutes online and they have a picture of a card next to the button I push. :)
Heh. I see you made a purches.
Okay! So I'm late to the party!
"Purchase" even...:)
Yep. Works out to $5 a month, plus I watch some commercials and get free minutes. I'm at the library doing that now. High speed internet, doncha know.
I'm pretty pleased with it so far. The reception is good. I have my ICE numbers programmed and AAA! LOL!
