most, if not all, of us southrons started out being "true believers" in the country. SADLY, we have learned that there will NEVER be true FREEDOM as long as we are "UNEQUALLY yoked together" with the SOCIALISTS, LEFTISTS & lunatic financial/media/social/intellectual ELITES of the northeast & the UNelected bureaucrats of the federal government.
the northeastern elites will FOREVER seek ever more intrusions into our schools, churches,private businesses, local governments,families & our personal LIVES.

Brother you can say that again. Personally I like seeing STAND dressed up as a Union soldier, it makes me feel like there might be some redemption for his poor deluded soul.
Those words could be said of most of the civil war threaders. Some of them do nothing but post on these topics, and it's always seemed a little surprising to me to see that some of the yankees are just as angry and sometimes more so.
I don't know that I'd say they take it too seriously, for it's a serious topic, but a little civility all around might make the read more interesting for those of us who lurk.
