There is a newer version of Firefox out today. This brings the incredibly popular browser up to version 1.5.0.5. Grab it if you want it, try it if you havent.
Firefox 1.5.0.5 is a security update that is part of our ongoing program to provide a safe Internet experience for our customers. We recommend that all users upgrade to this latest version.
fyi
I don't usually update this way, so I have a question: Do I need to uninstall my old version before I click setup.exe?
I haven't had to uninstall when I've upgraded.
But I have read that some people do have issues installing, so, I say, try it first.
No-- no need to ininstall. It was easy and painless.
ininstall = uninstall
So far, Mozilla.org still has 1.5.0.4 for download - not 1.5.0.5.
Unless you spend countless hours surfing porn and warez sites, it probably won't hurt to wait for the actual (official) release/notification.
The main download site still shows 1.5.0.4
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
Also, selecting "Help > Check for Updates" reports that "There are no new updates available."
I checked the website. Correct address. My phishing extension cleared it as well. http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/ is a safe address.
I'll wait for the front-door announcement at Mozilla.
I'm not downloading a new Firefox without that...given the current news:

More news...hopefully the 1.5.0.5 is just about to go public and is a cure
for the current nasty (extension):

http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/releases/1.5.0.5.html is the release notes page for the update. It is not beta, BTW, as this page indicates.
Looks like Clara Lou is ahead of the crowd:
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/securityfix/2006/07/passwordstealing_trojan_disgui.html
(last paragraph of the article)
"Incidentally, Mozilla is expected today to release a new version of Firefox
today, 1.5.0.5, that includes about a dozen security updates as well as stability
fixes. Security Fix will have more info on that update shortly after its release."
Looks like.
It had me scratching my head, becuse I'd seen 1.5.0.5 on a Mozilla FTP mirror a day or two ago.
At the time, I'd also noticed the "nightly", "trunk", etc. directories were gone, and everything, including the "release candidates", was being lumped into the "releases" directory/directories.
Thanks for the update from the frontlines....
Do All the extensions still work ok?
Just checked with your link and they must have updated it....
