Which has never, ever, been the goal for Socialists.
Pardon the pun, but they to be nipped in the bud before they have a chance to bloom.
Of course you are right. Socialists are not, however really interested in the public good, they are interested in Power.
Power is gained by convicing people to give up their freedom for the benefit of the whole.
The one who decides which freedoms must be sacrificed, which actions are allowed or not allowed and then how much each person has to pay has a great deal of power.
If I can make you WANT to do it, then I have ultimate power.
