thanks, cindy, for removing all doubt.
what a waste of talent.
PS: you shouldn't dress like you're in your twenties.

I thought she spelled her name Cyndi. From what I've read, she's not gay or lesbian or whatever. Her biggest fanbase is the gay community, and her music is popular in gay night clubs.

Her famous hits regarding women were written by men, except true colors which was written for gays by a gay man.
Her actual studio band during her hayday was Philly's own The Hooters (see And We Danced).
All in all, she is an image not an entity--perfect for the gay games.

There was a time, back in the mid '80s, when one of the big debates in pop music was who would emerge as the next big superstar, Madonna or Cyndi Lauper?
To: skeptoid
She looks like Lucille Ball crying in that picture.

Was she performing as a "gay activist" or is she in "slim" pickings for gigs?

About the time Cyndi Lauper damaged her vocal cords and was told not to sing in the manner she was known for in her earlier years as a pop singer, Madonna surpassed her as the female pop icon of the age.

I know that Rob Hyman played on his song 'Time After Time' for Cyndi, but I don't think the Hooters were necessarily her regular "studio band". The Hooters did do a bit of studio work though, like on Joan Osbourne's 'Relish'.
To: sully777
interesting tidbits and analysis.
the hooters...All you zombies!
To: BigSkyFreeper
I have a feeling that was going to happen anyway, regardless of Cyndi's vocal chord problem. I saw Madonna at Live Aid in '85 and she took over the stage like it was nothing. She was a superstar from the beginning.
To: Lancey Howard
did he do the guitar part? not sure what rob hyman played.
