Bobke wasn't the only one who thought he might make a break yesterday (not implying I did :). I suspect that those who knew that he might still have some legs left knew that he could go for it, but Landis himself didn't describe it as taking them by
suprise, he said that he caught them while they were still
disorganized.
The peloton just couldn't get their shiite together to defend themselves. His break was so quick, brutal and decisive that they just couldn't do anything about it.

This really makes it all the more impressive. The peloton knew that he might try something, Landis knew that they knew, he did it anyway, and they still couldn't do anything about it!
