If I got this in the wrong place, please move it. It probably should have gone in General/Chat but I think I got confused. :-)

They are fine. There are better, perhaps, but fine.

Mrs. MWT carries a .38 snub loaded with +P hollowpoint.

Either round is perfectly acceptable for close-quarters combat.

The 110's are fine. If you have something that you can shoot comfortably and accurately don't "fix" it!!!!

Wow, you all are fast. Thanks so much. I'm pretty sure I could shoot a higher grain than 110 because it is so smooth. I was really amazed considering the tiny size and weight of the gun. Ammo is so expensive that I didn't want to buy something to powerful for me since I'm pretty small.

Weight doesn't matter at all if you miss...

If the 110 grain and the 158 grain will be effective I will stay in that weight range then. I really couldn't tell that much difference in them. The gun is really easy to handle with them so as long as they will work for self-defense, that is all I am asking. Since it only holds five shells, I don't want to need it and it not be enough. :-)

I don't own a hand gun but that looks like a nice solid piece. Safety FiRst!

I along with you am always impressed with the calibre and rapid response of advice here at FR.

Thanks for the profile and pics , looks like a great place to live. Here's to keeping it that way.

That was sort of my thought. I was worried that if I got something too powerful that it might not still be in my hand when I pulled the trigger. :-)

It's a Taurus but I don't know what model. It's tiny for sure.

The Free Republic group is the best for getting good advice and I love to hear opinions and get the different options.

South Tennessee is beautiful. It's been miserably hot for the last few weeks though.

I told my wife she is welcome to get a handgui iof she wants to, she was Army, she says no ,, fine by me. whew.

It's hot here too but not like some spots lately, we're high 90s going over a hundred this weekend, some spots are cooking 110 plus and more.. we've had some moisture move in which makes it all the more sticky. do you have a pond? or lake close by? I grew up around them in Minnesota. thank goodness we bought a house with a pool years ago,, I'd take 44 acres in aheartbeat too. :-)

Nice country, I've been looking in the Dayton/Spring City area. A friend has a place on the lake there so have gotten to see some of the area.
Haven't found a place yet but hope to move up that way in
the next year or so.

Oh practice with the .38s and carry the .357s, if you need
them, you won't even notice the difference.

Yes, we have a pond in one of our hay fields that is about 1/4 acre in size. It has a natural spring in the bottom but we need to get it cleaned out soon because it's been filling up with silt over the years. You wouldn't want to swim in my natural pond. Too many mud and snapping turtles. :-)

Should be good for you. Remember, if you have to use it, it will be in close quarters. If the person you shoot is a long way off, you're in trouble.
I have an S&W 38sp Airweight for my concealed carry (hammerless). I love it.
And, you're absolutely right about it coming out of your hand. Never get a gun that you shy from firing! I looked at some autos, but decided on the S&W. Tried a small frame Glock 41 cal., what a POS. VERY painful to fire, VERY hard to load, VERY inaccurate. Then tried a very similar CZ, and fell in love with it. Ultimately decided on the S&W...glad I did, but I'm still gonna get that CZ...

I would't mind the turtles, lol.

It's the ducks, geese and leeches that spoiled it when I was a kid in our farm sloughs. We had a lot of lakes around tho,, just make sure ya get wetland permits if ya ever build a good pool of water. ;-)

I'm about 20 or 30 minutes drive from Dayton. I'm on the other side of the Tennessee River near Athens and Decatur. We go to Dayton quite a often to walk the trails along the river and slews. You will love it! I would like to sell this farm when I retire and move there. The people are nice and life is slow. Property is also reasonable compared to other states and the winters are mild.

.....125 gr jacketed hollow point has been proven to have more stopping power then even the .44 magnum....though out of a snub nose can have a bit of recoil and muzzle flash.. something you don't want at night in your home which will blind you......practice with the .38's.....you can find special down loaded .357 rounds made primarily for home defense...or for CCW permitted use......
