"Come get some!"
And here's his pic on Nifong's webpage. http://www.mikenifong.com/districtcourt.php
THanks. bump
The article seems to suggest that the defence was about to launch a campaign of having all the other Duke LAX players make public statements as to their uderstanding as to what did and did not happen at the party. Nifong's subpoena and threat that any team member could be called as a witness and Titus' apparent gag order now seem part of an effort to prevent this from happening. Does Titus' so-called gag order apply to as yet unidentified witneses - who have simply been listed on a subpoena?
BTW, I also meant to point out that in a case like this where someone is trying to railroad your clients, you just take the hit, if you are a defense attorney.

A woman announces to her friend that she is getting married for the fourth time.
"How wonderful! But I hope you don't mind me asking what happened to your first husband?"
"He ate poisonous mushrooms and died."
"Oh, how tragic! What about your second husband?"
"He ate poisonous mushrooms too and died."
"Oh, how terrible! I'm almost afraid to ask you about your third husband."
"He died of a fractured skull."
"A fractured skull?"
"He wouldn't eat the mushrooms."
Silly me. And all this time I thought the FBI really existed. Turns out it was as mythical as the tooth fairy.
There's a lynching now in Durham, civil rights violations,
and a corrupt city government and police department.
Surely Gonzales will be there in a moment to announce at a press conference that the Justice Dept. is launching a probe.
The Federal Grand Jury will meet.
Various city officials and officers will do a perp walk.
Nobody will be allowed to get away with a lynching in the 21st century, or a shakedown right in the public eye!
But I wrote to the FBI and heard back as much as I heard back when I wrote to Santa.
All part of the same myth, I guess.
It's nice to believe in goodness; but it really doesn't exist, you know. Just a fable for kids.
I actually pointed this out to a News & Observer reporter, Oren Dorrell (now with USA Today) but he didn't see any significance. Typical N&O reponse, eh?
I have an idea. Why don't we ask for a town meeting with a Federal agent?
Good points.
Complain to these folks. This is your right. You are citizens. You pay these people to do a job for you. Well, you have a right to ask them what they are doing about this.

Start rocking the boat. Make all the officials in Washington aware that the public has an issue it wants dealt with. You pay their salaries--so where are they?
Ask them what they are doing about this--you have a right to a response, too.
And you can even try : (let them be aware that there is a case where DNA has proven the innocence of the accused,
and yet the accused have not been cleared!) Rock the boat!
Because the Durham good ole boys are going to get away with this, if you don't.
If everyone exercises their right to ask questions of their government, this thing will no longer be able to be ignored.

Raleigh, Durham Police Involved in Assault Case
(07/22/06 - RALEIGH) -
Raleigh police are investigating an alleged assault outside a nightclub that involved Durham police officers, authorities said Saturday.
In addition to the criminal probe of Thursday's incident, Durham police Chief Steven Chalmers said his office is investigating.
No police report of the incident was on record at the Raleigh police department Saturday.
Chalmers said no criminal charges have been filed against anyone from his department and that the names of the officers allegedly involved in the incident aren't being released because of confidentiality issues.
"We have a strict code of conduct and we expect every member of our department to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times," Chalmers said in a statement.
A Raleigh police spokesman did not immediately return a message Saturday seeking comment. Calls to Durham's city manager were also not returned.
"Raleigh police are investigating an alleged assault outside a nightclub that involved Durham police officers, authorities said Saturday."
OK, are they getting a $500 fine, 30-days' suspended sentence, and 6 months' probation? (And THAT's only for the ones whose "assault" was only verbal, no blows struck).
Plus a two-day trial conducted by 2 government/state attorneys?
Surely that is requisite, right? (sacr/off)
LOL! They also have to either work full stime or stay in school.
Can I send a message about them via Wonkette or anonymous email?
That should focus a little more judical inquiry on the case!
