Yes, perhaps so. But his hearing is clearly the enabling ability. Others may never be so good at interpreting the returns (or maybe they will), but it is probably possible to use technology to give them Ben's hearing.

I'm thinking that this is a workable idea.... The return could be based on a scanner (perhaps directionally triggered by eye motions) and a return like a "hum" from a poorly grounded speaker....

In Ben's case, his eyes won't "follow" the sound. I hope you don't think I'm being a wet blanket. I am sure there are other blind people though who WILL benefit. Thank you for thinking of them.
