De la Fuente's work is pretty much done for the day. He doesn't have to worry too much about the last climb to keep his lead in the KOTM. The only guys that can catch him, even with double points available on the last climb, are Rasmussen, Dessel, Wegmann, and Boogerd, and even then, everyone except Rasmussen would have to win the stage to do it. Rasmussen would have to finish in the top 4.

The peloton reached the summit of the climb 4:20 behind the leaders.

They are now calculated to be 3:57 behind on the descent.
