These kooks have posted an essay, at the url above, protesting Ryan McFadyen's return to Duke. Someone posted a wonderful comment to the essay. The comment was so truthful and on target that it was immediately removed from the public blog. Now, they're all tore up and outraged that anyone spoke against them. They are plotting how to compose a group response to the comment. Here's the comment that has them riled. The all caps part at the top was added by the blog admin.
*HEAD'S UP: THIS POST IS BLATENTLY RACIST AND ANTI-SURVIVOR, SO PLEASE TAKE
CARE ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE IN A PLACE WHERE YOU FEEL READY/WILLING TO
GRAPPLE WITH THAT.*
*"The words below are beyond a doubt, the most anti-white, racist, and*
*sexist words I've come upon in a long time. The website for UBUNTU
claims: "Ubuntu is an age-old African term for humaneness - for
caring, sharing and being in harmony with all of creation. As an
ideal, it promotes co-operation between individuals, cultures and
nations."
I find the author's words below to be the complete opposite of the
organization's claim. In fact, I don't think that the author could
have done anything to show more baseless, malicious intent towards
whites and men, than to write and publish the false claims and hate-
filled generalizations below. Mr. McFayden and all of the other
players and men at Duke have been found guilty of absolutely
nothing. Your insinuation that they have is malicious in itself. As
a matter of fact, it is looking more and more like the roles of
perpetrator and victim will be switched...with the Lacrosse players
at Duke being the victims of an abhorant scam perpetrated by the
accuser for nothing more than money and attention.
It's pathetic to see people use an incident that does not involve
them in any way, to politicize their unfounded claims of
victimization and false cries of racism.
To the ladies of this organization, I say this: You are not a victim
of anything here. You were not raped by any Lacrosse players from
Duke. No one at Duke is causing you terror except for that which you
choose to create in your own mind in an effort to gain unwarranted
attention. No one wrote an email that had anything to do with you,
and everyone knows it. For you to claim otherwise is a lie.
Society abhors false victimization, as it only harms the true
victims. And victims...you are not. The only victims here are the
players at Lacrosse - and in fact all men at Duke - who are victims
of your false claims, your anti-white racism, and your sexism.
One last thing. The term "People of Color" is senseless, as we all
have a color. Of course, most of us don't categorize people by the
color of their skin the way the author does. Only bigots do that.
Look in the mirror, members of UBUNTU and you'll see that the bigotry
and racism you claim to see in others, in fact, resides mostly in you.
As a lady, I am thankful I don't walk in your shoes...as I wouldn't
be able to live with myself and the misplaced hatred you seem to
harbor so gleefully."
One more comment from within the private group:
The reality is that we don't know what will happen with this specific post, but the ideas it contains are ideas we will have to deal with in our work. I felt like the reaction is not isolated to the words of the joke essay, but really is directed at the analysis and work of UBUNTU as a whole and if we are going to be a public and active voice in this fight, we have to deal with the fear that women of color and survivors speaking up will strike into the hearts of those comfortable in a violent patriarchal and white supremacist world. As such, I think it is smart and strategic to develop some responses to this in preparation for the multitude of times we will be faced with similar ideas in the days to come.
Much love -

Good Lord-groups like that are the equivalent of the Klan.
It would never enter my mind to think of myself as a victim or someone at the mercy of others.
Life has never been fair, but by God you play the cards you are dealt. The choices are to rise above it or to wallow in it.
I loathe those who choose to wallow in victimhood.
