This is vermin control, it is NOT World War. Our foes here do not have the ability to threaten the national survival of the USA as the Nazis, the Japs or the Russians could. They can cause us pain, they cannot destroy. We can destroy them if seriously provoked.
Conservatives seriously undermined our intellectual credibility when we get all hyper hysteric about nothing. Sean Hannity has been squealing this line. It the boy who cried wolf syndrome. Cry wolf every time something happens in the world, eventually everyone stops listening to you.

And there is the difference between a true "world war" and a conflict. In a true world war we would believe ourselves seriously threatened with annihilation or conquest. If we truly felt like we were in danger of annihilation we would act like a cornered tiger. The Mideast would be a sea of glass.
BTW the Iraq war is OVER, people. It ended with the overthrow of Hussein's regime within the first couple weeks. When Bush did the "Mission Accomplished" speech, that was correct. Our mission was to overthrow Saddam. We did that. We are now in peacekeeping and rebuilding mode. Peacekeeping does not equal "war". I think major Republicans do a disservice to our cause in calling it a "war" still. It gives credibility to terrorists.
