Being that I just got home from the bar your last question stings a little. :)

I guess I am basing my opinion on wrestling (my favorite sport by a lot) which is also largely European dominated. In wrestling the scrambles leading up to any scoring are always more exciting than the actual points. Someone scoring without a scramble is interesting from a technical standpoint, but a match with one 30 to 45 second scramble that leads to a two point takedown is far more exciting than a match where one guy puts 15 points on the other guy.

Soccer's problem isn't the lack of scoring, it is that they end so many games as ties. More than scoring Americans want a winner. I think a lot of Americans would be more willing to come around to soccer if after 90 minutes they just turned the clock off and said y'all are staying out there until someone scores (or breaks the tie).

It's kinda funny.

An American here in Norway who was somewhat interested in soccer started following one of the local teams in the Norwegian league.

After half a season he said he gave up on the team which is called Stabekk:

"Stabekk sucks. All they do is tie. Tie Tie tie. They cannot even loose. I want to see them win or loose."

Kinda brings an example to your point :-)
