Yes and there's more comedy available (I'm supposed to be fading away now, but I must type this!).

Many customers in the bank are incredibly rude, they crane their necks around and lean right over your papers and try to see how much money you have! Yes, I swear, the last three times I went to two different banks, there was always one person who did that.

Today I was getting my traveler's checks and this mountain farmer type dude just pushes up shoulder to shoulder and he's eye balling all my papers! So rude!

So for once (because before I would just clear my throat or say "Hello!!") this time I threw my hands all over my papers and said in Chinese "What are you looking at? Don't look at my things, I don't want you to look".

And he said back in Chinese "I was just looking at what kind of money that is."(he meant the traveler's checks)

But while stepping away his eye's darted desperately around the papers trying to see some amount!

I asked the lady in Chinese "Why, in Taiwan, does someone always try to see how much money you have?". They just laughed and said "Sorry!" You really expect them to shoo the rude people away but that appears to be over the line, like they won't tell any customer what to do.

To top it off they only had rather small denominations of travelers checks, so I had to take this obnoxiously big bundle of small bills. Now sitting in my slim money belt it looks like I'm wearing a diaper or something!

Hah, well harmless stuff so far, see what these wacky cultures can be like? Oh well, guess it spices up life. I must like it or else I guess I'd just go home where everything runs relatively perfectly!
