But it still doesn't explain how you install the operating system after you set up the virtual system.

It keeps looking for a 'boot disk' in the A drive, so I am assuming that is the way to install.

I'm not familiar with Virtual PC, so I can't say how it works, but--is it possible for you to edit the VM's BIOS settings to boot from its CD device? That way you wouldn't need a floppy disc to boot it.
