There's no convincing (re-training) grannies on some things. Actually, make that everything.
Next time she tells you she was attacked by the devil in her sleep, tell her you'll pray for her and help her drive her demon away. Maybe if she was convinced that someone believed her, and thought that somehow you or someone could help her in some way, she may sleep more peacefully and have less devil dreams.
Hey Phil, I'm off to beddybye here in about five minutes. Still feel pooped out.
Adios muchacho!
I was just about to say the same thing. But without the Spanish.
Night!
Buenos Nachos!
Beans and Nachos!
MMmmmmmmm yummy.
Are you off today?
Nope. I had to work the morning shift.
Got another long shift tomorrow.
They're killing me!!! ARRRGHHHH!!!!
Oh no!!!!
So, did the Incompetent Electronics Brigade finally get their act together, or do you still have to cover an hour for their 30 minute breaks?
Actually, I haven't had any problems with them in a while. Except I had one with Patricia this weekend....
I'm going to Wednesday Night church, and I'll tell you when I get back.
Story time!!!! YIPPEEE!
Please put me on your ping list. Thanks!
Hi there!
Welcome to Pcottraux's Weekly FReeptoons!
I'm back! A pcottraux story.
Sure thing.
Just a tradition; I let all new-timers know that the archives are on my home page. But most of them already know that and have looked.
Once upon a time...
Once upon a time (a Thursday, to be exact), Patricia was blabbing about something, and happened to mention that she would take her break at 5:30. And I'm like, "Okay, whatever."
Well, once 5:30 came around, she didn't page me over there. And I was really busy, so I just kept on working, waiting for her call. It never came.
Sometime later, she's in desperate need of my help. Another guy and I had to go over there and work our butts off trying to load a big heavy TV into a box and onto a flatcart that a customer was supposed to come by and pick up later. Once we had the box up, the other guy had to go look for some tape because the box was kind of falling apart.
So while he's gone, Patricia says to me "Where were you at 5:30?"
I said, "I ended my break, and I was waiting for you to page me."
"5:30 comes around whether I page you or not."
Two things immediately entered my mind. The first was "Does the whole world revolve around your lunch break, or what?" The second was "You're welcome. Next time, lift your own blasted TV."
But I just shook my head and walked off.
Poor Pathetic Patricia.
This is good because maybe, just maybe, she'll rely on you a little less next time, or call someone else over to cover her one-hour 30 minute break.
I probably dont have to tell you this, but people who make their breaks a number one priority of their job are people who are close to quitting.
Well, the next day, Dee (the electronics department head) comes up to me and says "You have to spend a lot of time in our department, don't you?"
Not sure where this came from...maybe someone heard me complaining and told her?
So I was just being nice, "Yeah, but I understand, and it's important, and blah blah blah."
But at one point I mentioned, "And honestly, I think Patricia takes a little longer than she needs."
I was expecting her to nod her head and know what I was talking about, but instead, she folded her arms and acted like she had never known anything about this. "Oh, really?" she says.
I'm like, "Well...sometimes."
I am such a sap.
But she says, "Next time she does that, just leave me a little note in the department 7 mailbox, okay?"
I just sort of nodded my head in agreement.
The irony is that Dee is actually WORSE than Patricia about taking too long--at least from what I've heard. But the difference is that Dee is about ten times nicer.
If I had a vote in the matter, I'll take the 10 times nicer person with more flaws over the other.
Fortunately for me, I work usually split shift, which is sort of half-morning and half-evening. So I'm not bothered by electronics as much.
But when I have to work second shift (Thursdays...which is tomorrow), I get bothered by them all the time.
