A friend of mine is married to an Algerian guy. She says that Algerians will have NO PROBLEM with Zidane's head butt....and neither will he. Part of their culture, she says, even though Zinane isn't an Algerian by birth -- only by "ethnicity," whatever that is nowadays.
He is French-born, French-speaking and speaks NO Arabic or his native tongue. He's an ethnic minority even in Algeria.

Side note, I remember watching Captain Tsubasa(Soccer Cartoon) when I was young. They always portrayed the Italians as cheaters.
I have heard NOTHING BUT cheating-Italy in the soccer/football/Füssball world my whole life and I'm old.
Imagine how badly they must cheat in this less-than-honest-world to be labeled so.

Ok - a little extreme comeback you gave - so staying on point - think about it - guys playing hard - rough sport, other guy hard-tweaks your nip. It smarts (nature of it, no matter how big you are). You think - "ouch - jerk, " and then a few seconds later the macho factor of another guy tweaking your nip (which normal guys don't do) and it tweaks your head - only a few seconds later. Materazzi might have even busted him with words regarding it and, culmination of the moment, tournament and Materazzi's reputation that Zidane and others well know, and Zidane doesn't let it stand.
Stupid - YES, only explanation that makes sense. Unless Materazzi knew Zidane's mother or sister in some illicit relations.

My guess is that comments about said women were said THROUGHOUT the game. That's old stuff...but it seems to still work, doesn't it?

The headbutt was uncalled for. That said if anyone had to get headbutted it might as well have been Materazzi. He is an absolute goon and one of the most thuggish pros in Italy. Some of his tackles at the club level are absurd.

Zidane threw the World Cup away. His team needed him and he let them down. Matterazzi did what he did. Whatever he did - he won. Zidane lost.

No, Zidane should have taken it out on the Azzurri on the playing field by finishing off a hat trick. He's a chump because he lost his head, instead of channeling his anger into concentrating and focusing his amazing and still unstoppable talent and going to the next level.
