My best to Barbaro. He's a real fighter.

Richardson said Barbaro's main fracture is healing well, but the pastern joint _ a joint above the hoof _ continues to be a concern. The joint was stabilized with "new implants and a fresh bone graft."I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night, but I think the pastern break was always considered the worse of the breaks, it was the bone that was in many pieces, and is the joint that will have a lot of torque on it whenever he moves.

Darn, I hate to hear that. Prayers sent out for his total recovery.

thanks for updating...I sure hope this will resolve well.

I just hope he isn't suffering. Horses are noble animals which have often been cruelly mistreated ever since they were domesticated by man. (not saying that Barbaro has been mistreated)
I really hate to see one of those brave and beautiful creatures suffer pain. Actually I hate to see any animal suffer pain, but dogs and horses are especially close to my heart.

Hang in there Barbaro! Hopefully one day you'll be able to pass on your genes of toughness and determination.
