I agree.
France beat portugal on a con-venient penalty.
Italy, normally no strangers to dirty play, playedstaright and clean today, IMO. very surprising given what the stakes were...

lol.
I only watched (A LITTLE) bit of girl's soccer when I was in HS since I had the hots for one of the girls.
But, never since then, and even then, it was just a few minutes. BORING, BORING, BORING.
It is almost worse than golf. :)

The World Cup's not over until the Fat French Lady sings.. Or Zidane head-buts someone.
To: mikrofon
Hi mikrofon- You're not kidding Zidane's headbutt was the most absurd move in professional sports. He could have been a soccer legend for generations as the hero of two World Cup finals, one of the most influential players of the last decade, and team captain...but instead he will always be known by that famous foul and getting red-carded. What a nitwit.

It wasn't pretty from Italy, but they deserved it. Their defence was superb right through the tournament, even if their attack was somewhat disjointed and pedestrian. The way they wore down the Germans on their home soil and then delivered the
coup de gras, late in extra time in the semi-final, was the highlight of the tournament for me and they deserved the cup for that alone.
They allowed only two goals in the entire tournament.....one a fluke own goal from a mis-kick against the USA and today's penalty from France.
Speaking of France, they scored no goals from open play in either the semi-final or the final. Just a single penalty in each game. Not good enough and once Zidane had his moment of madness I knew they were done for.
