Pirates is a Jerry Bruckheimer production, I find most of the work he produces to be pretty pro-American and entertaining.
Johnny Depp explained recently that he lives in France half the time because it allows for a quieter lifestyle (to raise his children) as they are not hounded night and day by the press over there.
I can't fault him for that. Since having children he has grown up significantly.
I do support the few movies that are made strictly for entertainment purposes and not propaganda purposes.

Don't go, it isn't very good. Or if you do go don't pay full price for a ticket.
Not fun at all. Not clever like the first movie.
The 3:40 audience in Lancaster (Calif) was deathly silent -- only a scattered laughs (very few) during the entire 150 minutes, no cheers, no applause at the end.
Hollywood seems intent on producing ever more creative nightmares. In that the makers of this film succeeded.

Saw it yesterday with my wife. Definitely not for younger kids! The movie was action packed and the special effects were well done. The "Davie Jones" plot was interesting but bordered on the grotesque. If I was a child, some unnecessary scenes would have given me nightmares. Overall, I'd say the plot moved quickly, was action packed, had only one or two somewhat funny lines and nothing that was overall stimulating in content. I'd see the third one based on this, though, just to see how it ends.
The witch reminded me of an old exgirlfriend from Brasil (she had better teeth and a very sexy Bahianan accent.) I take back the "nothing that was overall stimulating" part.
