This is very sad news.
I'm an opera fan (hence my screen name).
I was fortunate to see "the Big P" in his prime, in Chicago 1977 at the old Medina Temple.
He was great and the connection between the audience and Pavarotti was electric. His voice just poured out so effortlessly.
This was before he got caught up in his own hype and became just a caricature of himself, big hankie and all.
All the opera greats are retired or leaving us.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery maestro.
