...many of the runners are now foreign tourists and the danger is increased by a tradition of drinking all night before the run...

I missed this on first read, great tradition.

Yes, but tourists seem to miss the last part of the tradition, don't do it the night before you run with the bulls...

There are a few rules commonly known that, if respected, guarantee that at most you'll get a broken leg.

Very few locals have ever been seriously hurt.

Obviously one of these rules is that you have to be perfectly sober and have slept for the whole night.

Taking the bends on the inner side, never run in front of the bull (they only see ahead), stay flat in the floor when you fall are other rules that I honestly don't find so complicated but tourists seem to ignore although they are told about it that several times.

Locals always "retire" (OK, punch&kick away) before the start all the people that is obviously drunk because they are a danger for everyone, not just for themselves.

Those who have not slept and are drunk but can stand without balancing go unnoticed.

These images of tourists being caught are always shown on TV with comments about how that is an example of what not to do. When a young spanish goes for the first time to Pamplona he has seen on TV along his life hundreds of tourists being caught because they didn't do what they had to do.

With this I just want to say that if you want to go it's OK but first take the bother of getting some information about it. If not it's really dangerous...

Sadly, this morning it has been confirmed that this guy will likely remain paralised down the neck for the rest of his life...

He was running with young bulls, one rle is that you shouldn't despise them, they are much smaller than the half tone adults and look skinny but they are still 200 Kg and much stronger than a human.

Another one is that a bull runs much more than you, you shouldn't try to scape by speed and change direction suddenly several times, that's much more diificult for the bulls.

Finally, in the plaza there are places to hide, you need to keep in mind where they are at any time.

He broke all this rules.

We are deeply sorry about the fate of this man but he has to admit that he didn't put much from his side to not to end this way.
