I'll never forget getting harangued by some Chinese woman for lighting up a cigar in an open-air public park, on the 4th of July.

LOL on the tagline.
That even works down in mecixo.
The anti-tobacco bunch is the new age gestapo, thought police, and KGB all wrapped up in one really ugly bundle.

Great article! I don't smoke except for a "ladylike" cigar on my birthday. Twenty more days 'til I light up for the year; think I'll do it outside Mayor Dave's office in Madistan, LOL!
But the more the 'Smoke Gnatzies' pester adults who are partaking in a LEGAL and TAXED substance, I'll always side with the smokers. Always.
Besides, nine times out of ten they're a lot more FUN and actually ENJOY life versus the "No Smoking Anywhere Ever" zealots. ;)

Control FREAKS is right on the money..........these people are out of hand and if anyone thinks they are going to stop with tobacco they have their head in the sand (or in some other dark space)

It's a terrible shame that so many of the "no smoking anywhere" pecksniffs are regular members of FR.....they refuse to understand, they are next.
She compared a kid getting through the door of the Smoke Shop to the same kid getting through the door of the Cabaret, the Route 1 strip joint. Right. A glimpse of packs of cigarettes and cigars along with smoking paraphernalia is as damaging to teen sensibilities and hormones as seeing a naked woman dance in front of leering men.
It is better than being being called or equated with, rapists, pedophiles, murderers, child abusers, etc.......

Later today I'll have a couple of glasses of a fine Cabernet before a big charbroiled Porterhouse steak dinner, during which I'll have a few more glasses, finishing with an A. Fuente Don Carlos Doble Robusto, a caffeine-laden double espresso and maybe a Sambuca. All the while flying and toasting Old Glory. I can only hope that some of that fine Dominican smoke and my increasingly boisterous salutations waft over my tightassed liberal neighbors....

They will never stop trying to force behavior into their little Orwellian correctness. We need to turn the tables on them and start controlling their behavior then, don't we? After all what's good for the goose..............

I found it very interesting that as I visited a grocery store during a recent trip to California, that the tobacco products were double locked in a glass case, while the booze was freely available to anyone walking down the grocery isle.

I continue to do my shopping for the "sin tax" items in Wisconsin and avoid the outrageous Illinois taxes.
I will also ignore the unjust nanny state laws at every opportunity. I'm just a fat, SUV driving, non recycling, french fry eating, non PC flag waving right wing smoker, who lives to PO the liberals.

during a recent trip to California, that the tobacco products were double locked in a glass caseThat's probably from theft concerns as there isn't a law requiring it.
