The Germans and Italians meet in Dortmund on Tuesday (2:55 p.m. ET, ESPN) to play for the right to go to the World Cup Final on Sunday. The loser will play in the third-place game Saturday against the losing team of the other semifinal to be held Wednesday.

I think that’s unfair on Germany. They kept counterattacking. Not with the same gusto as Italy but that’s hardly surprising given their respective penalty records. Germany could have been far more negative if they’d wanted to be.

I think Italy-France would be an excellent final, especially if Zidane keeps playing to form. Nothing like a good border war in the finals.
USA TV didn't bother to replay the goals so I immediately switched to Univision and got to see the two goals AGAIN.

Dunno ... if Italy can continue the tremendous D and counterattacking success, yes. I would favor them against Portugal, but if they meet France w/ the way Zidane and crew have played lately .... dunno.
I tend to think the team that has the momentous semi-final win ends up losing the final. I can’t see Portugal beating Italy but the I think the French can, now they’ve got their act together.
