What a shot by Grasso!
That was beautifully done.
And del Piero :-)
And that's that. Italy deserved this one all the way.
Both times!
Well, that about settles it. Dang.
Welcome to football!
And now my fine friends, now you know.
Welcome to Italia!
Germany just fell apart at the end there. I was pulling for them but I was underwhelmed throughout.
Italy was the better team throughout the match, this was the right result.
2-0. Italy deserve it no question.
Bit surprised to see Germany buckle though in the last 2 mins.
Great game and great play by Italy. They kept pushing and Germany kept pushing back. Entertaining stuff.
Oh yes baby, SWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
Oh the silence, how I love it.
Two extra-time matches did them in. Ballack knows he got caught ball-watching on the first Italian goal, as did much of the otherwise stellar German defense. They played for penalties and got nichts. Shame.
On the second goal that was just a case of the Germans getting caught pressing for the equalizer, they had no choice but to do that.
But Italy had many more chances, it could have been even worse. A bit disappointing effort from the Germans, but they would have done well to get to the finals. I think Klinsi did the best he could, but Italy is the better team.
And at least the US can feel good about tying them.
Congrats to Italy ... fitting that they clinched it right at the end of the OT period.
Germany was playing for PKs. It got to them.
You couldn't ask for a more thrilling end. Beyone entertaining!
Turnabout is fair play, Germany won it in Italy in 90, now perhaps Italy will win it in Germany.
Yup, you've got it. Italy in Germany, '06.
It's not exactly silence at the loss of Germany. It is just that a lot of people are wondering who they should root for if France advances tomorrow. The team of divers? Or the French?
